RESUMO

This work defines a methodology to improve the production capacity of the mechanical presses existing in the Brazilian industry. The eccentric mechanical presses with crank drive (connecting rod) are very simple machines for operation, but these presses use a lot of energy during the working cycle, partially due the fixed descent and rising speeds of the slide and the high speed of the die impact during the part forming that are negative points regarding to the productivity of this kind of presses. To solve this problem a methodology has been proposed to improve the production capacity of the mechanical presses. The indirect drive or a hybrid drive applied on this press can improve the production capacity of the machine and can contribute to reduce a considerable amount of electrical energy consumption, without losing the process quality of the forming parts. The hybrid drive is formed by an AC induction motor and one servo motor. The AC induction motor drives the flywheel which generally is already installed in the press. The servo motor drives the slide when the press operates in idle stroke. This research focus is the technology development to adapt the indirect or hybrid drive on the eccentric mechanical press. The result of this study still permits to reuse the existing presses and reduce the needs of construction and manufacturing of new mechanical presses. Reducing in that way the negative impacts which the fabrication would create on the environment
