RESUMO

The present study was developed in the Serra do Brigadeiro State Park(PESB) Conservation Unit created in 1996 and in implementation process since 2005 with the objective to characterize and evaluate it public use and its potentialities to make possible the development of priority management actions. Field visits were realized to apply the questionnaires, fulfilling of a structured script of observation and photographic collection as a way to obtain data and information that would allow trace the visitors profile, evaluate the management effectiveness and comprehend and characterize the dynamic of the public use of the Conservation Unit trough the use and appropriation forms of the spaces used by the visitors. The obtained results appoint that PESB shows a management effectiveness level satisfactory and, even being vulnerable to the pressure and threats to its environmental integrity, those possesses, in general way, a lower critic level. In public use terms PESB allows the development of environmental education activities, scientific researches, leisure activities, religious visits, courses and trainings. The structure is concentrate in a small area, taking care mainly to the administrative needs, fiscalization and research. Despite having diverse attractive, a lot are unknown in access and potential use terms. The activities of public use in the Park are limited, mainly by the flaws of planning, spreading, infra-structure and services, to be made. The visitor profile of PESB shows to be variable according to the place they visit and show favorable potential to the local activity order. According to the discussion, the results of this work may contribute significantly to the order process of public use management in PESB, since was evidenced the great potentiality of the conservation unit to that.
