RESUMO

The knee, the largest articulation sinovial of the human body combines considerable mobility and it forces with the necessary stability to maintain it in the erect position. The fact of the knee to sustain discharges forces and to locate among two long arms of levers of the body, it become particularly susceptible to the injury. There is a growing concern in to study the articulation of the knee during functional activities as the human gait; however deepened studies exist and extensive on that thematic, they are found few works in the literature on the electromyographic analysis of the articulation of the knee, associating to the patellofemoral instability. The present study had as objective presents the electromyographic activity of the muscles vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis, angular variation of the articulation of the knee, and variable of the ground reaction force, during the accomplishment of the gait in accent and slope, in 10 healthy volunteers (control group), and 10 volunteers with patellofemoral instability (pathological group). They were studied, therefore the behavior of those varied during the gait in healthy volunteers and with patellofemoral instability, where the results, through the analysis of the coefficient of variation and of the statistical test of crossed correlation, during time, indicated the existence of similar patterns for the electromyography s curves for the musdes supra mentioned; the angular variation maintained variation patterns in function of time very near; besides dynamic patterns of the ground reaction force, in the analyzed volunteers they be presented in way very seemed between the healthy group and the group with patellofemoral instability. It was concluded therefore, when considering the results obtained in that study, that a pattern of activation common exists, among the muscles vastus medialis oblique and vastus lateralis, as well as there were not differences among the analysis of the angular variation and of the ground reaction force significant that demonstrated any break of the stability biomechanics in the volunteers with patellofemoral instability when compared to the group with healthy volunteers
