RESUMO

This research emphasizes the novel "Pedra do Reino" written by Ariano Suassuna. It covets to analyse contributions brought by the main dichotomy used on it: historical texts (connected with the messianic movement) and literatura de cordel nordestina. The first chapter lovers the reception of "Pedra do Reino" by criticism and historical literatures. The novel s analysis in the midst of literary work come up to be the gist of it. Criticism, historian and literary discussed it in different texts. The second chapter presents Suassuna s deposition an interview given in " May 1998. So that, we want to show an overview about what had been said in Suassuna s novel. Also, expose the author s opinion about it thirty years latter / its composition. There is, in the thirty chapter, a relative study about the historical texts inserted in the messianic movement of "Pedra Bonita", within "Pedra do Reino". Many nays that Suassuna s chronicIes were included in the novel "Pedra Bonita" are analyzes in this chapter. The last chapter seeks northeast serial popular poetry in the processes of Suassuna s first composition. It brings elemehts between "Pedra do Reino" and serial stories from the northeast of Brazil.
