RESUMO

In this work, had been developed some formulations with intention to analyze the mechanical and physical properties of the composites for use in friction materiaIs, as brake pads, being given the industries, new aItematives in the production of materiais for specific applications. They had been tested you also vary ratio of fibres (aramid and P ANox) and, the substitution of alumina for the mica, with the objective of if studying the effect of these additives in the specific properties of the composites. The confection of the tablets had followed procedures and parameters used for the industry, leading if in account geometric model BPN 222 of the BRASFREIOS used in automobiles. With the objective of the processing of materiais of accessible cost and to give the aItemative for the substitution of the asbestos in the manufactred processes, the main physical parameters of the composites had been analyzed as, hardness (Gogan), density, shear strenght, point of cure, and the coefficient of friction, comparing the results gotten with results of commercial brake pads
