RESUMO

In the recent years, control strategies of nonlinear processes, which incorporate a model of the process in the controller strategy, are being developed. The Nonlinear Model Predictive Control (NMPC), one of the most advanced control technique, uses the process dynamic (a model) for determine future movements of the manipulated variable in a control horizon through the minimization in a prediction horizon of the objective function (based on the output desired). The aim of control is to assume that the output of , the process is closer to the imposed trajectory. In this work, it is done a control simulation study of a Batch Heating Tank, whose model contains a system of two differential ordinary nonlinear equations of the energy balance, using NMPC. The aim is to evaluate the influence of the design parameters of NMPC in the performance of the controller. So as to avoid a problem of high dimension, the model equations are discretization by Orthogonal Collocation, using Jacobi polynomials. The system of differential equations becomes algebraic and the optimal control is transformed into a Nonlinear Programming Problem (NLP) with the algebraic equations being part of the equality restrictions. The resulting problem is solved by a strategy which simultaneously solves and optimizes the algebraic model by applying the Successive Quadratic Programming (SQP) ...Note: The complete abstract is available with the full electronic digital thesis or dissertations
