RESUMO

This research characterized morphologic and behavioural aspects of the development of the wasp parasitic Muscidifurax sp. (Girault &Sanders, 191O) reared into Chrysomya ]!Utoria pupae (Wiedemann). Both species were collected in Santa Cruz da Conceição - SP, Brazil (210 59 S 470 21 W), and maintained under laboratory conditions (250 :t 10 C; 70 :t l00!cl R. H.; 12 h photoperiod). Aspects regarding the development of immature phases of the parasitoid into C. putoria pupae as well as morphometric characterization are shown. Also, changes in the reproductive behavior and sex ratio of the parasitoid females were noticed through daily observation of the offspring emergence. The emerged offspring were evaluated in separate re&ardin~ ~eir gre~qus or solitarious characteristics, although such behavior have not occurred in a uniform and continuous way during the females life. The life and fertility table demonstrated two reproductive Qattems within the same Q.oQ 1atio~ but when biological parameters were evaluated for gregarious and solitary population in separa te, no significant differences were found. At last, the evaluation of the reproductive rate and the growth potential of Muscidifurax sp. population showed that this species has a good potential to be a bioloêca1 control agent for C. J!Utoria flies. The evaluation of several morphological characteristics of these parasitoids suggests the ocurrence of a likely speciation
