RESUMO

One of the functions of the filling of root canals is complete it as airtight as possible, stimulating the repair of periapical tissues and preventing microorganisms able to reinfect the root canal system. So it is necessary that the sealer has some desirable properties. Among these, there is the need to be bactericidal, or at least, be detrimental to bacterial growth. This project aimed to evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial capacity of some endodontic sealers added silver nanoparticles. Three types of root canal sealers was used: Group A, Endomethasone, Group B, Pulp Canal Sealer and Group C, AH Plus. Each experimental group was divided into four subgroups: subgroup 1, are not added nanoparticles, while subgroup 2 will received 0.1% in subgroup 3, and 0.5% in the subgroup 4, 1% (by weight). Cylindrical tablets of 2 mm in diameter and 5 mm in height were made by inserting the cement manipulated in polyethylene tubes with the dimensions above. For the biodegradation of the composite, each chip sealer is placed in a Ependorf containing Simulated Body Fluid and bacterial inoculum. At regular intervals of 24 hours, aliquots of 1 mL was collected and plated by the pour plate technique for subsequent counting of colony-forming units culture for Enterococcus faecalis ATCC. Statistical analysis showed that root canal sealers based zinc oxido and eugenol used in this study are more effective in eliminating Enterococcus faecalis than the AH Plus, and the addition of 0,1% silver nanoparticles to root canal sealers based zinc oxido and eugenol in improving its bactericidal properties, wich was not found in the AH Plus Sealer.
