RESUMO

Cladonia clathrata (Cladoniaceae) is a lichen specie and several Cladonia species extracts have been used in folk medicine. In order to evaluate the actions of this lichen extract, studies were performed on antinociceptive, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant activities. The hydroalcoholic extract of C. clathrata (HECc) was used in the following experiments and elicited inhibitory activity (p <0.001) on acetic acid effect at 100 (47.2%), 200 (47.2%), and 400 mg/Kg (86.4%), and reduced the formalin effect on both the first- (400 mg/Kg, p <0.01) and second-phases (200 and 400 mg/Kg, p <0.01). Carrageenan-induced neutrophil migration into the peritoneal cavity was inhibited with the HECc (p <0.001) at the dose of 400 mg/Kg. The HECc react with the DPPH radical and reduce the same by 25.76%, and exhibited IC50 value of 77.39 5.03 mg/mL DPPH. The HECc shows antinociceptive and anti-inflammatory activities, with antioxidant potential.
