RESUMO

Lymphatic filariasis is a problem of public health in some continents in tropical and subtropical regions in the planet; it has about 1/5 of the population in the world coexisting in endemic areas. In Brazil, cities as Recife / PE and Maceià / AL, still remain as focos of endemic disease since the first inquiries (about 50 years behind). What it contributes for the maintenance of filariasis are the climatic conditions of the cities and urban problems as disordered growth of poor populations, devoid of sanitation. In this work the socio surrounds pointers had been identified that collaborate for the maintenance of the illness in RPA 2 (Politician-Administrative Region) of the city of Recife. Bibliographical and iconographic survey was carried through, periodic visits in the places with photos regarding these pointers. One evidenced that the inadequate treatment of the system of draining of the city, ally to the precarious system of sanitary exhaustion that also does not take care of to all population, and to the service of urban cleanness that still meets incipient in the studied RPA, they are indicating for the maintenance of filariose. Although already to be of recognition in the literature that the deficit infrastructure is the causer of maintenance of the illness in endemic areas, in this work it was possible to list the pointers identifying them in RPA 2
