RESUMO
The principal ain of this work is the verification of the peculiarities which appointed the Juiz de Fora commercial structure at the end of nineteenth century and beginning of the twentieth century. The sector is here understood like one of the diverses effects generated from the coffee production in the region of Zona da Mata de Minas Gerais which its expansion incentivated the diversification of the economy movement. On the contrary of the others agro-export production as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, where the commercial sector developed from its direct envolviment with the coffee production, in Juiz de For a we certified a reality very diferente. The inexistence, in the city, and in the state itself, of the nucleus of external commercialization ended for impose a marginal character to the coffee complex that set up in the region. In this sense, uncapable to commercialize its own product due a structural limitation, commercial net of Juiz de Fora seem to have developed through the providement of a growing demand of the internal market, not only local, but also regional and even the external regions of Zona da Mata
